Amal Unbound by Aisha Saeed

Amal is a young 12-year-old girl living in a Pakistani village with her family. As the oldest child, she has many responsibilities. One day on her way home from the market Amal encounters a member of the ruling family, Jawad Sahib. The unfortunate meeting quickly turns unfriendly when Amal unknowingly insults Jawad by refusing a request he asks of her. As a result of his humiliation, Jawad sentences Amal to servitude in the Khan house for an undetermined amount of time. While living and serving in the Khan household, Amal quickly learns whom she can trust and whom is dangerous and untrustworthy. During her internment, Amal experiences many challenges, greatest of all how to gain her freedom and make it back home to her family.
